plainweek is an editor over a folder of plain markdown files. A day is a file; a task is a line. No database hides your data, no service can lock you in, and it works fully offline. Open the same vault in Obsidian, grep it, or back it up — plainweek just reflects what is on disk.
Your files are yours: plain markdown on your own disk. No tracking, no accounts required, no telemetry.
The idea
It should feel like paper — restraint is the feature.
Open it and the week is a few quiet columns. Type a line, press Enter, type the next. Drag a leftover onto today. Cross things off — they strike through, they don’t vanish. Close it without having “managed” anything.
Files-as-truth
Your vault is a folder of human-readable markdown. The format you read is the model — no export step, nothing to be locked out of.
Works offline
Fully usable with no network. The free app runs no sync loop at all; replicate the folder yourself with Syncthing or Obsidian Sync if you like.
Private by default
No accounts, no tracking, no productivity scores or nags. Nothing leaves your device unless you opt into premium sync.
Order is meaning
There is no hidden sort field. A task’s position is its line position in the file — reordering anything is just moving a line.
One surface, many lenses
Everything is a view over the same files.
The same tasks render as a week, a day, a board, an outline, or a month — never separate stores, never a mode you are trapped in.
Week & Day
The primary surface: quiet day columns, drag to reschedule, strike-through instead of hide, and a zoom ladder from a few days out to a full month grid.
Board & Outline
Zoom into any bullet so it becomes the page. Boards and dashboards are per-node display modes over the same tree — drag a card and its whole subtree follows.
Sidebar Queries
Overdue-first smart lists for today, the next seven days, upcoming work, and tags — always alongside the week.
Time anchors
Start a line with a time (13:20 call Sarah, 9am,
13h) and it pins a time chip and groups the day into blocks — no
separate time field.
Command palette
Ctrl/Cmd + K for vault-wide search and actions, plus a keyboard-shortcuts overlay. Rollover of undone tasks is a query, not a mutation.
Reminders
Web-push reminders that fire at your time anchors, so a scheduled task can nudge you without a separate notification app.
Calendar ICS feed
A read-only subscribe URL your phone’s calendar can follow, so your planned week shows up alongside your other calendars.
Google Calendar sync
Two-way sync with Google Calendar — events flow both directions, refreshed every few minutes. Rolling out gradually while Google verification completes.
Sync across devices
Opt-in hosted sync keeps your vault current across your phone, laptop, and desktop — with visible conflict files, never a silent overwrite.
Version history
Roll back to earlier states of your synced vault — a safety net for the files you care about most.

Is the planner really free?
Yes. The local planner is free forever and works fully offline. You only pay if you want the hosted sync layer.
How does the free trial work?
Premium sync starts with a 14-day free trial. A payment method is required to begin it, and the subscription converts to a paid plan automatically on day 14 unless you cancel before then. You can cancel at any time from inside the app.
Who charges my card?
Paddle.com is our authorised reseller and Merchant of Record. Your payment, invoicing, and applicable taxes are handled by Paddle; PlainWeek never sees your card details.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. As an EU consumer you have a 14-day right of withdrawal, and Paddle handles refunds on our behalf. See our Terms for the details.
What happens to my files if I stop paying?
Nothing is taken from you. Your vault is plain markdown on your own device and keeps working. Only the hosted sync layer pauses.
